SLA Benefits

Reduce traditional tooling expenses by opting for cost-effective small to medium-volume prototype production runs.

Design parts optimized for investment casting with a thick outer shell and a honeycomb interior.

Achieve highly precise parts with smooth finishes and intricate details. Thanks to the open-source flexibility of SLA technology, our team at Seattle 3D Printing can assist you in selecting the ideal material properties for your project.

Applications include small to large prototypes, master patterns for low-temperature molds, and large-scale models for the automotive and entertainment industries.

How It Works

Stereolithography (SLA) employs UV light to trace and solidify a single layer of resin into a specific geometry. After each layer is completed, the build platform lowers by a precise distance, allowing a new layer of photopolymer to be spread across the platform. This process is repeated until the entire model is formed.

Post-processing is necessary for SLA parts, including the manual removal of support structures. Many SLA parts also require additional steps, such as an isopropyl alcohol bath followed by secondary curing under UV light.
